David Sheldrick Wildlife TrustComments: This was a redesign of a not-for-profit organization's website whose focus is rescuing and re-introducing orphaned elephants into the wild in Africa. Although the organization declined to accept a redesign offer, I went forward with it as my senior project for my web design degree. -

Jasmine SpiralComments: A photography project based on the environmental art of Andy Goldsworthy. I created the design with Jasmine blossoms on the trunk of a loquat tree, took some photographs, and tweaked the levels in Photoshop. The final piece is printed on a brushed aluminum metal sheet. Tis rather gorgeous. -
SparkyComments: As a hypothetical situation in a digital corporate identity class, we were tasked with concepting a mascot for the Art Institute. My team chose to develop my sketch of Sparky: an anomolous creature based on the idea of art itself (he is what the viewer sees). The 'spark' between his ears represents the spark of imagination/inspiration on which all design begins. -
ButterflyComments: I don't just code. I can handle a brush too. This was a study in color theory, developing a full composition by painting all the colors within one-inch squares at a time rather than focusing on the image as a whole. "Hyper-real", was my instructor's comment about this piece. Woot! -
ReflectionComments: Another study in color theory. The challenge here was to use only shades and tints of two complimentary colors along with their neutral gray. Working in a one-inch grid, we also had to avoid like colors across each grid line. This turned out pretty good apparently, because someone stole it from the work-return room. -
Dream HouseComments: Final drawing and perspective project. The task was to draw our dream house. I can't say this is exactly my dream house, but I wouldn't mind living in it. -
Dormant TreeComments: This is a tree. (Glad I clarified that, huh?) This was a grid drawing, one-inch squares at a time, focusing on value rather than form. Took forever. -
Sydney SkylineComments: Created entirely in Illustrator, this took forever too. -
Kaffir BoyComments: In honor of Banned Book Month, I was tasked with redesigning the book cover of a banned book. I chose Kaffir Boy by Mark Mathabane. Concept brief: "A cropping of the South African flag graces the backdrop of the front cover, rotated to a vertical orientation. All color is removed from the flag, leaving it stark black and white with no shades of gray. The white central form of the flag dominates and divides the black areas. This is reflective of the state of apartheid in South Africa. The faceless silhouette of a young black boy stands in shadow, lit by reflective light from the white shape. Propped in the shadows with him is a tennis racket, but the two appear cornered on the lower left side of the page by the division before them." -
The Infamous SkullComments: It's infamous because everyone has to draw this, twice. -
My FishComments: I have to throw my branding in here, because I love it and the story behind it is interesting. The design began with the middle initial of my signature. I chose a fish for several reasons: the obvious one being "Fisher" is my last name. The fish also carries the following symbolism: 'fish' is the Greek acronym for 'Jesus Christ, Son of God Savior' who is the center of my universe; in Indian symbolism the fish stands for creativity; in Greek/Roman symbolism the fish stands for transformation; in Celtic symbolism the fish stands for knowledge; and the betta fish specifically stands for beauty and strength.
